Vitrification gives new opportunities

A new technique to store frozen eggs was successfully tested and implemented at Livio Fertilitetscentrum Göteborg a couple of years ago. It resulted in the first birth in a Nordic country in the spring of 2012. The technique has since spread to our other clinics and is successfully performed in Stockholm, Umeå, Falun, Malmö and Reykjavik (and Göteborg). Vitrification opens up new possibilities for both donors and receivers of donated eggs and sperms.

For example it is now possible to create an egg bank which means that the donor and the receiving woman do not have to be treated at the same time, a considerable improvement from earlier.
